First race back after sitting out most of 2021 season due to injury
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Phoenix Racing’s Jayden Londerville of Wausau, Wisconsin, grabbed 12th in the Pro Sport class at the season opener of ATV Motocross National Championship Series (ATVMX), an AMA National Championship.
Held on March 8 at the “World Center of Racing” – Daytona International Speedway – racers faced challenging track conditions after a night of rain at the facility. Plus, a starting gate malfunction forced the starts to launch with the wave of a flag, something most motocross racers aren’t accustomed to.

After sitting out most of the 2021 season to recover from an arm injury, Londerville focused on getting through the round without injury and setting himself up with a good start to the year.
After earning fourth in his qualifying session, he chose a gate in the middle for his heat. Londerville powered his Yamaha YFZ 450R immediately into the top five in Heat 1. He gained a position by lap two and carried that position to the line, capturing fourth.
In Main Event, Londerville pulled a good start but got tangled up in a wreck. By the time he got free and around the other racers, he was at the very back of the pack and had to battle his way through the field. Nearing the halfway point, he was sitting in 12th. By lap 10, he had worked his way inside the top 10. A mishap on the next lap dropped back to 13th place. However, he was able to pull back to 12th by the time the checkered flag flew.
“I was pretty bummed out with how I finished, because I know I could have done a lot better, even with coming off of an injury,” said Jayden Londerville. “My hope for the next race is to be on the podium. I’ll continue to train during the week and hopefully get to ride a few times before the Texas round.”
The 10-round series continues on April 2-3 at Three Palms Action Sports Park in Conroe, Texas.
