4130 Motorsports Rider Fights Through Pain to Salvage Valuable Points

LIZELLA, Ga. – Saturday marked the first round of this ATV Motocross National Championship season using the traditional two-moto format. Jayden Londerville was eager to continue his rookie year in the pro class, but it wasn’t without misfortune.

Competitors took advantage of optimal weather conditions in the 70s as they hit the track for qualifying. However, Londerville struggled to get a clean lap in during either qualifier on the sandy track at Echeconnee MX. He said he had confidence going into the first pro qualifier but rode pretty tight and ended up 12th for that qualifier. In the next qualifier, he felt better and threw down a quicker lap — but so did his competitors. He notched 13th fastest in that qualifying.

In the first 18-minute plus two lap moto, the 4130 Motorsports rider blasted his Yamaha YFZ450R out of the gate. Londerville was sitting just outside of the top five and pushed a strong pace before slipping back to ninth. Around midway through the moto, he hyperextended his knee and had to simmer down his performance while fighting through pain. He finished 12th.

Between motos, Londerville saw the onsite medic to evaluate his knee. He decided to proceed with Moto 2, even while still experiencing quite a bit of discomfort. The 20-year-old pulled another solid start, but the pain in his knee immediately slowed his pace. He pushed through at a moderate pace, taking 16th to salvage championship points.

Even with some adversity to start the season, Londerville has remained focused on learning and improving during his rookie year of the pro class. His 12-16 results netted him 15th overall for the weekend. Though not the result he wanted, these points could prove valuable as the rookie continues his first season in the highly-competitive pro class.

“I had a good start coming out around sixth in moto one,” Londerville said. “I battled for several laps before I ended up hyperextending my knee. It hurt it pretty bad, so I dropped way back and just tried to salvage some points. For pro moto two, my knee was still hurting. I had some work done to it at the medic tent, so was hoping it wouldn’t be as bad. I had a decent start again, coming out sixth. But my knee just couldn’t handle it, so I just rode around and finished the race to salvage points.”

Unfortunately, he decided to withdraw from the Pro-Am races on Sunday to prevent further injury to his knee.

Looking Ahead
Londerville will get his knee examined upon returning home to Wisconsin and hopes that it’s just a minor setback that he can heal up from over the next month before the series heads to Virginia.

“Definitely a tough weekend,” Londerville said. “Lots to be learned from it and things to take away. I’m going to go back home and get my knee checked out. Hopefully, it’s nothing major. We have a month until the next race, so we hope to be ready and back stronger.”

Round four will be at Lake Sugar Tree Motorsports Park in Axton, Virginia, on April 26-27.
