Lingering Injury Hinders 4130 Motorsports Rider’s Results at Round Four
AXTON, Va. – Lake Sugar Tree Motorsports Park returned to the ATV Motocross National Championship schedule for the first time since 2020. After sustaining injury at round three, 4130 Motorsports’ Jayden Londerville sought medical advice and treatment in hopes of returning to action in Axton, Virginia. Although he was cleared to race, he wasn’t able to race at the level that he desired.

Pro
Early morning showers on Saturday added some moisture to the track before Londerville put his Yamaha YFZ450R on the gate for pro class qualifying. He netted 10th in the lineup for the motos.
In the first moto, the 20-year-old claimed a top-10 position off of the line. He hovered around 10th place for the duration of the race while attempting to push through throbbing pain in his knee. He had to relinquish his desire to climb through the pack and took the checkered flag in 13th.
Although mentally motivated to ride up front, Londerville didn’t have much physical stamina to back him up. With his knee pain worsening, he coped the best he could in Moto 2. He got out of the gate into a top-10 spot but was quickly shuffled back to 14th. Around the middle of the race, he was able to gain two positions – which he held until the end.
With 13-12 finishes, he still managed to collect vital championship points and took 14th on the weekend.
“It was a rough weekend dealing with my knee,” Londerville said. “I felt like I had good speed for bits of the races but couldn’t maintain the pace because of the pain. In pro qualifying, I had decent speed but struggled in sections with knee pain. I knew it was going to be rough going into the motos for the day. For pro moto one, I had a decent start and then fell back due to pain. It’s definitely not where I want to be and am disappointed in the result. I had not-so-great start in the second moto. I was around tenth and just tried to maintain a pace my knee could handle. I tried to finish strong but fell back toward the end of the race.”

Pro-Am
Since he was unable to line up for Pro-Am at the prior round due to injury, Londerville grimaced through the pain to put in a strong performance during Round 4.
He started off the day by laying down a time of 01:43.450 in qualifying to score sixth gate pick. Trying to manage the pain, Londerville put his machine into seventh quickly after the start of Moto 1. He continued to pick off competitors, reaching fifth around the halfway mark. He then slid into fourth and eventually third nearing the end of the race. The hard-fought battle to remain in the podium spot was unsuccessful, and Londerville had to settle for fourth at the line.
In Moto 2, Londerville blasted his Yamaha YFZ450R into the runner-up spot out of the gate. However, that nagging injury would simmer his performance just after the midpoint of the race. The Wisconsin-based rider was able to remain in the top 10, taking seventh at the close of the race.
His 4-7 results gave him fifth on the day.
“I knew it was going to be a struggle, because my knee was having a lot of pain before the first moto,” Londerville said. “I had a mid-pack start, made some quick passes and caught third. I couldn’t make a pass stick. In moto two, I knew my knee wouldn’t be able to handle the whole moto, so I had to get a good start and sprint for as long as possible. I was running second for a bit until my knee couldn’t handle it anymore, then I dropped back.”

Looking Ahead
Londerville will seek further evaluation and treatment for his knee. The 4130 Motorsports team will then determine the next steps for this race season.
“I’m upset with how this weekend went,” Londerville said. “I know I can do better than my results show. I’m going to let my knee recover, get back to my physical therapist and hopefully figure some more stuff out before for the next race.”
The fifth round will take place at Ironman MX in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on May 10-11.
