Kamm Sits Third in Championship Headed into Final Weekend of Competition

CANNONSBURG, Mich. – It’s been a thrilling AMSOIL Championship Snocross season for Hentges Racing’s Kody Kamm as he’s battled his way into the top three in points while contesting against tough competitors and navigating challenging tracks throughout the 16-round season. Held at Cannonsburg Ski Resort, the triple crown format saw Kamm go 3-10-4 for seventh overall during Friday’s competition. The following day, he tallied podium positions in each main event, going 3-2-2, to claim second overall for the day in Cannonsburg, Michigan.

Round 13

After qualifying second, just .372 of a second behind the leader, Kamm started off the first main event by blasting his Polaris 600R into third, despite it being five-riders wide into the first turn. Around halfway through the moto, he fought bar to bar with the second-place competitor but would ultimately pilot his Polaris over the finish line in third at the conclusion of the nine-minute race.

In the second main event, the 29-year-old was in third shortly after the start. However, he then began to encounter a mechanical issue and was unable to finish the moto, resulting in a 10th place finish.

In the last main event, the Hentges Racing rider settled into the fourth-place spot within just a couple of laps. Putting in lap times around 47-seconds, he continued to chase the leaders. When the clock ran out, he took the checkers in fourth.

He claimed seventh overall on Friday after going 3-10-4.

“The track was fun and very technical,” said Kamm. “Getting around a tight 180-degree turn for the first corner was very important. The mechanical was a bummer, but I’m happy with my other results.”

Round 14

The triple crown format continued for Saturday. Kamm was pinched off on the straightaway after the start of the first main event, but wasted no time in putting his sled into second after he dove to the inside of the first turn. He fought to maintain the spot, but slipped back to third. Kamm continued to steadily pilot his Polaris 600R around the track before taking third at the finish.

In main event two, the #53 was positioned fifth after a crowded field once again made for a challenging first corner. Kamm worked lap after lap to reach third. With just a few laps remaining, he powered his way into second. He set his eyes on the leader while continuing to ride smart in the final stretch of the moto. However, when the checkers flew, Kamm captured second.

Kamm pulled a stellar holeshot in main event three but was pushed wide in the first corner and shuffled back to sixth. He quickly went to work, climbing to second in a matter of minutes. He rode a consistent race to finish with another second-place result.

His 3-2-2 finishes earned him second overall on Saturday.

“We had some very warm weather giving us very wet snow,” said Kamm. “Roost was bad, so it was important to get to the front of the pack. I rode solid and am super stoked to be on the podium. The Hentges Racing Polaris was working great and was very fast.”

Looking Forward

Kamm is now ranked third in the pro class standings with 453 points. One weekend of racing remains to score points in the championship chase.

“Michigan was an awesome weekend,” said Kamm. “I ended up dropping down to third in points, but I still have six more motos next weekend to add more points to my title chase.”

Next Race: April 1-2 – Dubuque, Iowa
