Polaris Pilot Leaves ERX Motor Park Second in Series Standings

ELK RIVER, Minn. – ERX Motor Park was host to another weekend of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross series this season — this time for rounds 11 and 12. Hentges Racing’s Kody Kamm went 9-5-3 to collect sixth overall on Friday, after the series ran its first-ever triple crown format. The format consisted of three eight-minute, plus one-lap motos in place of the usual two qualifying races and final. Kamm then went 3-6-5 to earn fourth overall Saturday in Elk River, Minnesota. He remains runner-up in the pro class championship standings after the competition.

Round 11

In the first main event, Kamm found himself upside down in the first corner among a crowded field of riders. He remounted but was near the back of the pack. He continued to push his Polaris 600R, sitting in eighth for most of the moto before crossing the line in ninth.

After a seventh-place start in main event two, the Hentges Racing rider worked his way up to fourth within a few laps. He held the position for the majority of the race, before ultimately finishing fifth.

In the final main event, the 29-year-old put his machine into a podium position off of the start. Running lap times around 43-seconds, he was right on the tail of the leaders. He would take the checkered flag in third.

His 9-5-3 result earned him sixth overall on Friday.

“On Friday, when I was stuck upside down, we learned real quick that the first turn is going to be a tough one,” said Kamm. “That left me to finish ninth place in moto one. I was able to make adjustments and improve throughout the night to follow it up with a fifth and third place finish in the next two motos.”

Round 12

On Saturday, Kamm scored the fastest qualifying time — a 40.048 — to start the day off strong.

Even though Kamm had a tough start in the first main event, ERX Motor Park fans saw him grab his second podium of the weekend. He began clawing his way through the field after the start, reaching third by the halfway point. He held steady in the position until crossing the finish line.

The #53 had a challenging second main event. Kamm got off to a great start in third but got tangled up with another rider in a corner. The incident dropped him to last position, and he had to spend the rest of the time fighting his way back through the field. He was able to reach sixth by the time the checkers waved.

In the final moto, Kamm was near the back of the field after the start. He powered his Polaris 600R into the top five within just a few laps. He continued to ride a smooth race for the duration and crossed the line in the fifth-place spot.

His 3-6-5 finishes netted him fourth overall on Saturday.

“We turned things around on Saturday with the fastest qualifying time,” said Kamm. “In the first moto, I finished third. So, that was a way better start than the day prior. In moto two, I got off to a third-place start but ended up getting crossed up in a corner with another rider and flipped over. I came back to finish sixth. In the last final, I ended in fifth.”

Looking Forward

Continuing to hold second in the pro class championship, Kamm now has 397 points. Only two weekends of competition are left in the season.

“I was excited going into this weekend at ERX with a whole new format of racing – a three-moto format with a combined score for the overall winner,” said Kamm. “I’m happy to be sitting second in the championship, but want to get into that lead spot before the season ends.”

Next Race: March 24-25 – Grand Rapids, Michigan
