Polaris-Mounted Rider Ranks Second in Series Standings
ELK RIVER, Minn. – ERX Motor Park saw Hentges Racing’s Kody Kamm continue his momentum in the AMSOIL Championship Snocross series. He scored a fourth-place finish on Friday in Elk River, Minnesota, and a fifth-place result the following night at Round 8. Now at the halfway mark of the season, he continues a strong championship chase sitting second in points.
Unfortunately, due to previous commitments, teammate John Malmstrom of Sweden is unable to finish the season in the United States.

Round 7
Kamm set himself up on the inside for the start of his first heat race. He soon settled into third, but it wasn’t long before he made his way into second. He put the pressure on the leader for the duration of the heat, but ultimately took second at the finish.
In the second of his heat races, the 28-year-old once again got off to a strong start in second. Kamm spun fast laps aboard his Polaris 600R, but once again finished in the runner-up spot.
The second-place qualifier for the night, Kamm blasted off the line into fourth for the final. It was only moments before he advanced into a podium position. However, his challenger quickly reclaimed the position. The racing was incredibly tight for the rest of the final as they put down 45-second lap times. When the checkers flew, he powered his machine over the finish in fourth.
“It was a ton of fun being back at ERX where I have practically been living the past six or seven years for training,” said Kamm. “Friday, I had great speed all night long. I took second in both heat races and landed fourth in the final.”
Round 8
The track was modified for Saturday’s race, with one whoop being taken out shortly after the start and another put in further out on the track. A triple was also taken out and converted to whoops to give riders an added challenge.
Kamm was on fire for his heat races, despite the temperatures only being in the low 30s. In his first heat race, he quickly blasted off to the lead and pulled away from the rest of the field to put down the fastest lap time and score the win by over two seconds.
In his second heat race, Kamm powered his way into the lead right off of the start. There was some close racing with his competition before he eventually stretched his lead. He ran out front for the duration of the qualifying race to seize the win.
The #53 put himself just outside of the top five after leaving the starting line in the final. Nearing the halfway point, a crash by another rider gifted Kamm fifth position. He continued to push for a podium position, but was unable to secure any more positions to claim fifth when the clock ran out.
“Saturday ended up being a very long day,” said Kamm. “I woke up with a head cold, but that didn’t stop me from racing. The first heat race start wasn’t the greatest. I had to line up in the old ruts from the previous race and kind of spun on the ice out there. I snuck around the inside of the first turn and rode smart on the first straightaway to get out front. Then, I rode smart the rest of the race. I was able to win both heat races, but the start of the main event was not my best. I think I may have blinked as the light turned green, and I was late. I went around the first turn in sixth or seventh, but managed to finish fifth.”
Looking Forward
With 277 points earned, Kamm remains second in the Pro class. Four more race weekends, totaling eight rounds, are left in the season.
“I’m excited for the next race in Sioux Falls and also to come back to ERX again later this year,” Kamm said.
Next Race: March 3-4 – Sioux Falls, South Dakota
