First-Ever Triple Crown Event for ATV Motocross National Championship

FOUNTAIN, Fla. – With heavy rain predicted to hit Fountain, Florida, the ATV Motocross National Championship Series (ATVMX), an AMA National Championship, shifted the pro-only event to Friday, March 7. Racers competed in the first-ever triple crown format where Jayden Londerville battled adversity throughout the day but pushed through to secure 13th overall.

Competitors were presented with temperatures in the low 70s at Round 2, and Londerville was energized to start the day. However, the two qualifiers didn’t go as he had anticipated. He struggled to find his rhythm in the first session, so the team made some mechanical adjustments ahead of the second qualifier. However, misfortune struck when Londerville lost fourth gear during the second qualifier, preventing him from logging a fast lap. As a result, he was left with a less-than-desirable gate pick for the races. The team quickly went to work to swap out a motor in preparation for the races.

In the first 10-minute plus two-laps moto, Londerville didn’t get the jump out of the gate that he was looking for. He focused on catching the riders ahead but wasn’t able to make passes happen. He held 14th for most of the race, ultimately taking the checkers in the position. The 4130 Motorsports rider had another challenging start in Moto 2. He was able to power his Yamaha YFZ450R to 11th by the third lap but slipped back to 12th with two laps to go. In the final moto, the 20-year-old pulled a top-10 start and was able to hold onto the position for most of the race. He pushed to reach the group of riders ahead of him, but they had pulled a gap. After a hard-fought effort to remain in the top 10, he slipped to 11th on the final lap of the nine-lap race.

Despite the challenges, Londerville was able to improve in each moto — showcasing his resilience. His 14-12-11 results earned him 13th overall at Decker Training Facility at County Line MX.

“Going into moto one, I had a far outside gate pick and got a bad start,” said Londerville. “I was moving my way up until I ended up going down on the second lap and was dead last. I came back to 14th. In moto two, I had another bad start and got hung up behind some people and couldn’t pass. I ended up 12th in that moto. I had a bad start in the third moto but made moves fast. I was catching the group ahead of me but there just wasn’t enough time in these shorter triple crown races, so I ended up P11.”

Looking Ahead
Though Londerville had hoped for better results, this year is likely to be filled with learning and adjustments as he finds his flow and refines his technique in the pro class.

“I definitely expected more out of myself but felt like I had good speed,” Londerville said. “I just need to work on a few things before the next round.”

Round three will be on March 29 at Echeconnee MX in Lizella, Georgia.
