As the first-ever American — male or female — to win an FIM Enduro World Championship, Rachel Gutish knows what it means to grind for a goal. “I went and looked up every single overall finish in a test of the top of whatever woman won the race that day. I tracked it over the course of a 15-year period… When I first started, the earliest numbers I had access to I think were like 2007 or 2008 maybe, because that’s when they first started using like computerized online scoring for stuff.

The average top finishing female was finishing 112th, 113th in tests. And just this last weekend, I believe Shelby Turner was 29th, I was 31st and Brooke Costner was 33rd. So you look at the gains we’ve made over the last 15 years and it’s really something.”
