Documenting Motorcycle Trials & Beyond

Steph Vetterly – Owner & Editor, On the Pegs Magazine – discusses how photographing motorcycle trials evolved into a passion for documenting the sport.

Steph highlights the work that goes into capturing moments, no matter the weather, and how it’s far more complicated than just “pointing the camera.”

In addition to being the owner and editor of On The Pegs, she is also hired by multiple brands and manufacturers to photograph race teams and the competitions they participate in.

“Oh, favorite by far is definitely trials. I think for me, it’s the fact that trials is such a niche sport that very few people know about. When you talk to a lot of the top-level hard enduro guys, and even some of the world level motocross guys, they have the experience, they have the hours on a trials bike, but it’s the motorcycle industry’s best kept secret.

I’m really trying to get the layman or the person who is not involved in off-road racing at all to look at trials and be like, ‘Oh, that’s really cool. I wonder what this is.’ and want to learn more about it.”
