Clint and myself are joined by Rodney Carrier – Loretta Lynn’s Competitor. He’s competed at the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, aka Loretta Lynn’s, for many years.

He shares his journey from drag racing motorcycles into motocross. Plus, he discusses his experience racing on a vintage 1981 Maico 490 during the event and shares his plans for future bike builds and races.

“And you’re just there to have a good time. I feel like everybody around you is probably all stressed out. I mean, you’re trying to win too but your approach is a little different.”

“Yeah, exactly. When I go down there, especially if I take the Maico… If I take my modern bike, I want to do top ten. That’s the goal. My best finish down there ever was fifth, and I’ve got several other top tens.

But on the Maico, I want to make everybody smile. I want to be happy. I want to joke around. I love talking to people, and I I had so many people come over and ask ‘Why would you bring this down here?’

I said, ‘Answer me this question. Would you come over here and talk to me if I had my GasGas set here in my pickup truck?’ And he said no. I said, ‘Well my name is Ronnie Carrier. Nice to meet you.'”
